What is The Cobweb Orchestra?
The Cobweb Orchestra is a friendly community orchestra for players of all abilities on a wide variety of instruments.
There are:
- no auditions
- no entry requirements
- no weekly commitments (although it'll always be nice to see you regularly when you can make it!)
- no limits on the number of players
The emphasis of The Cobweb Orchestra is on sharing our enthusiasm for and enjoyment of music.
So, who comes to The Cobweb Orchestra?
The Cobweb Orchestra is very flexible; we are always welcoming new members. Some of our members are seasoned, experienced players who want to enjoy their music in new company. Some are complete beginners who may never have played in an orchestra before. Many of us have been too busy to practice for several years and want to blow the cobwebs off our music stands and start playing again.
How do I join?
Even though you don't have to join to come along to our events, you will be made welcome whenever you decide to take part, becoming a member of 'The Cobweb Orchestra' couldn't be easier. In return for your financial and moral support, you will receive the following benefits:
- 25% reduction in weeky subs
- 25% reduction in events fees (excluding accommodation and food)
- reduced tickets to the Northern Sinfonia concerts at Middlesbrough Town Hall
- the opportunity to support the orchestra and see it grow
There are various ways for you to become a member and to give us your valuable support.
You can join at any of the regular groups by giving your cheque or cash (annual fee - £35 for taxpayers; £20 for non-taxpayers) plus your membership forms (available from your weekly group, or to download below) to the subs secretary. Or you can send your money and forms to the following address:

If you prefer to let your bank take care of your renewal, you can fill in a standing order form. If you are a taxpayer, please fill in a Gift Aid form, sign it and we can claim tax back from the Chancellor (better in our bank account than his).
