Andy Jackson - Creative Director
Andy has made his living from music since becoming a choirboy at the age of
eight by being a performer, composer, conductor, researcher, writer,
ethnomusicologist and publisher. When not working, he likes to grow and cook
vegetables, spend time with his family and watch rugby.

David Hutton - Newbiggin Group Leader
David has been singing since early childhood, and an enthusiastic Cobweb
double-bass player for over 10 years. Starting at Annfield Plain as a rusty
player, he has since taken up some of the additional challenges offered,
particularly as an arranger, conductor and trainee Leader. When Derek Hobbs
decided to leave the leadership of the Newbiggin group to someone else,
David was ready, though alas it meant he could no longer play bass there
too. In his other spare time he loves guitar and photography.

Ian Potts - Tebay Group Leader
Brought up in Tasmania, sang with the Australian Boys Choir. Returned to the UK playing cello and clarinet with the Royal Artillery in London and Germany for eleven years.
Been very lucky to have had a very varied career playing, conducting and teaching virtually every instrument. Head of Cumbria Music Service from 1988 to 1995. Then examined for Trinity College and worked for the Associated Board’s Professional Development Department.
Has overseen the Tebay group since its beginning in 1998. Loves classic cars.

Rebecca Pedlow - Teesside Group Leader
Rebecca Pedlow was born in Eaglescliffe and attended schools in Stockton and Middlesbrough. Her musical education began at an early age when she started to sing solos from the age of 7. She has always been grateful for the fantastic free tuition she gained learning the Viola as a young musician, which led to the opportunity to play with the Cleveland Junior Philharmonic orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall and then with the Northern Junior Philharmonic in Aldebrough, London and York. Her education continued in London at The City University, where she gained a BSc Hons degree in Music and had singing lessons at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She has worked as a Professional Opera Singer with The D'Oyly Carte Opera Company and as a sessional backing singer at Abbey Road Studios. Her Arts Management Career has included working with the City of London Festival, in the Marketing and Development departments of the Royal Festival Hall, as Project Development Coordinator for London Bubble Theatre Company, Acting Creative Director for Creative Partnerships Tees Valley, Programme Leader for MusicLeader North East at The Sage Gateshead and now as Programme Manager for Platform - promoting Classical Music excellence in the Tees Valley. She has done lots of Freelance Singing tuition and currently works as a vocal practitioner on the Vocal Union programme managed by The Sage Gateshead, and conducts the Tees Valley Cobwebs Orchestra at Middlesbrough Town Hall every Monday evening.

Peter Wood - Dalston Group Leader
Peter played with the East Riding County Youth Orchestra (violin) and the Hull Philharmonic
Orchestra (viola) but stopped playing regularly in his mid 20s as work took over. An invitation
to a Cobweb event 8 years ago was the catalyst that relaunched his orchestral playing. As well
as his activities with the Cobweb Orchestra, Peter also plays in other local orchestras and
string quartets, including a home-grown one comprising his three children.

Catherine Holbrook - York Group Leader
Catherine is a freelance community musician. She has worked with a variety of education and community
groups on composition, performance and music theatre projects. She also teaches piano, bassoon and singing.
She likes spending time with her friends and family, going for walks and eating.

Howard Rocke - Chair of Trustees
Howard's early experiences of playing orchestral music were
with the City of Belfast Youth Orchestra. Then his playing
lapsed. However he became a true Cobwebber, having to remove
22 years of cobwebs from his cello.
By day a Careers Adviser, when his family have no further
use for him he loves to explore the County Durham
countryside.

Jean Ord - Treasurer and Trustee
Jean plays Violin at Harelaw and is one of the few remaining founder members of the orchestra.
She also plays golf with a handicap of 18 and is a member of a drama club. Jean is self
employed as a will writer and estate planner and together with husband John, they own two
Springer Spaniels who keep them both fit by daily walks.

Andrew Forsyth - Trustee
Andrew is a director of Weasdale Nurseries, sending trees and shrubs from Cumbria throughout the UK and beyond. He returned to the flute after a 20+ year layoff (in true Cobweb style) now playing regularly with the Harelaw and Tebay groups and has organised various overseas Cobweb trips.

Lesley Wearmouth - Secretary and Trustee
Lesley started playing the clarinet and later the saxophone whilst in junior school. Never having
totally lapsed as a player, she turned up on the first night of the Cobweb experience and they haven't
been able to get rid of her since. By day she works as an educational consultant, specialising in
modern languages in secondary schools.
