| Description | CONCERT WITH ALICE JONES, CELLIST SUNDAY MARCH 21ST IN ST. GEORGE’S CHURCH, MORPETH Alice is an exciting young professional who has played with the orchestra before, at the Bishop Auckland Proms (many of you will remember her wonderful, heart-rending performance of Bruch’s ‘Kol Nidrei’), Since then she has been studying at Guildhall in London so we can look forward to an individual and polished performance of the Elgar Cello Concerto. We shall also play John Hawkes’ Divertimento; its punchy style a complete contrast to the lyricism of the Elgar. We will be joined by Durham Scratch Choir who will sing Andy Jackson’s ‘Heaven Beneath our Feet’. This will be accompanied by a small instrumental ensemble. But some of you who enjoy singing might like to become part of the choir in this performance. There is also a rehearsal and concert the day before, in Jesmond.
