This is the longest established of our regional groups, previoulsy held at Annfield Plain and then in Consett before moving to Dipton.
Mark Edwards will be the new Dipton conductor from September 2026. Mark has been the Artistic Director of The Cobweb Orchestra since October 2022.
Players will attempt just about anything from the orchestral repertoire, with less experienced players sitting alongside old hands.
As well as the music, there’s also a lovely view to enjoy at Dipton!

From the archive – “The Life and Times of South Medomsley Pit”
A grant from Banks helped us to cover a project to represent the history of the South Medomsley Pit in music.
A central part of the project was the commissioning of a new work by Andy Jackson, called ‘Absence’, dedicated to our late double bass player Bernard Haston. The Dipton group performed it for the first time at a concert on 11 June 2023.
