The Morpeth Group can usually muster all sections of an orchestra with a range of abilities. They attempt a major work such as a symphony each term, but they also play a wide range of shorter works from Baroque to 20th Century, and from folk dances to film scores.
The leader from September 2024 is Kate Bredin, a long time Cobweb bassoon player and experienced choral conductor. Kate is open to suggestions for music anyone would like to play!
St George’s church is adjacent to Telford Bridge and has a small car park which is for those with large instruments and/or mobility problems. Everyone else is encouraged to use a public car park; there are several in the area. The group plays in the sanctuary on the ground floor and access is by the back door. There is a security lock on the door, but a doorbell to the sanctuary so that someone can let you in if necessary. Access to the church is from 7.15 to 9.45 pm to allow time for setting out and clearing away.
